Like most of life's best things, great ideas hit when you least expect them. My idea for Senior Staff came to me after reading an article by Ben Stein on how work adds 'shine' to the golden years. Growing up in Philadelphia, my grandparents' golden years included Monday nights at our Church's "Golden Age Club", and it was typical for multiple generations to live on the same street or in the same house after retiring in their sixties. But today, Baby Boomers have a very different approach to "retirement". In their fifties as "empty nesters", they decide to go back to work or to pursue their dream careers. Even into their seventies, many seniors are choosing to stay active with more flexible employment schedules or consulting work.
Stein's article also describes how workers will need to augment retirement income by working longer. He points to conversations with employers who tell him they love older workers for their good attitudes and work ethic. With low unemployment in most parts of the country, Stein concludes this to be a "match made in heaven." And that’s when the idea for Senior Staff hit me. Why not help employers and seniors find each other? In a matter of hours, I had a business concept, company name, and a registered website domain.
After more research and lots of hard work, Senior Staff has finally become a reality. As we developed the website and the business strategy, I continued to ask myself "How can I make this business different so that it is more effective and reasonably priced? And how do I make Senior Staff relevant in today's marketplace?"
In creating Senior Staff, our key philosophy was (and will continue to be) "keep it simple." Searching for a job is hard enough; the tools we use in the process don’t need to be. We designed our website to be easy to use for job seekers and employers alike. At Senior Staff, we also do not want our customers wasting their time. That is why the job listings on our site come directly from employers that are sincere about recruiting the most qualified, experienced, reliable and flexible segment of the workforce – Senior Staffers! Since we do not purchase bulk listings from other recruiting sites to post on our site, it may take a short while before we have a selection of job listings in your area, so please be patient and check the site frequently.
Our goal is to make Senior Staff the top job-search site on the internet for +50 workers, and the most efficient and economical recruiting tool for employers of all sizes across the nation. "We’re Bringing Experience Back to Work!"
We appreciate your choosing Senior Staff.
